| Games made my son kill |
It doesn't look like the blame game will end any time soon, as today, the mother of murderer Stuart Harling, blamed the video games he played for the crime he commited.
Stuart Harling was convicted two weeks ago at the Old Bailey to life imprisonment for murdering nurse Cheryl Moss, after stabbing her 72 times last April.
We are lead to believe that Harling's favourite game was Manhunt and that he would spend every night in his room playing the game.
Police told how Harling had been chatting to paedophiles and researching serial killers on the internet. At the trial, Harling continued to misbehave and at one time he shouted at the prosecutor: "I'm going to cut your fucking head off and shit down your neck!"
This clearly shows that Harling wasn't a normal person and must have had some sort of mental illness. Firstly, a normal person would not commit murder, and even if they did, we would expect them to show some remorse, but clearly Harling did not have any remorse.
His mother had this to say about games: "Now I feel like people are looking at me, as if I should have read the signs. But I had no idea."
Of course people are going to blame her, instead of reading the signs she should have read the BBFC rating clearly displayed on the game. Would she have let her son watch an 18 rated movie, or just claim ignorance if he had done the same thing after watching a violent movie?
This news comes just a few weeks after Manhunt 2 was banned by the BBFC, and Rockstar are currently appealling the decision.Labels: others |
